Managing Director, Head of Special Situations

Laurel Wittman is a senior investment professional with more than 20 years’ transactional experience lending to and supporting the strategic initiatives of growth-oriented life sciences and technology companies.

She currently directs the Special Situations function at Oxford, with a focus on life sciences, ARR, and leveraged finance loans. Her experience includes managing in- and out-of-court workout processes (turnarounds, distressed sales, ABCs, Chapter 11/363s, Chapter 7s, foreign insolvencies, and Article 9 foreclosures) and maximizing recoveries from Oxford-owned assets. She has been invited to speak on several panels on restructuring trends in the venture lending space.

Previously, she led Oxford’s Eastern life sciences credit team, responsible for screening new opportunities and underwriting, negotiating, and managing almost $2.5 billion in funded loans for borrowers in the eastern United States, Canada, Europe, and Israel.

Prior to joining Oxford, Laurel was a Senior Analyst and Analyst with WWC Capital Group (later Outcome Capital), an investment bank specializing in M&A and fundraising mandates for venture-backed and middle-market technology companies.

Laurel earned a B.S. in Commerce with a concentration in Finance from the University of Virginia, where she was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society. She serves on the board of Well Spouse Association and is its recent past president.
